GRANDMA'S RECIPE "THE GOLDEN MILK"

 GOLDEN MILK

FAIRY TALE RECIPE

           “Golden milk” is also called turmeric tea and it has been revered from ancient periods for its healing properties. Turmeric can recognize in Indian or Asian dishes for coloring and adding flavors. It means very bright yellow color. On comparing the benefits of chamomile or green tea, this earthy golden milk have more health-boosting drink in less than 5 minutes!

HOW TO MAKE TURMERIC TEA

          Start with below base ingredient, and u can adjust spices and sweeteners to your flavor contentment! Here are the components you need to get the full benefits of turmeric
1.     Heat
2.     Turmeric
3.     Pepper (tiny amount)
4.     Cinnamon
5.     Ginger
6.     Sweetener (honey)
7.     Some kind of fat for absorption

CHOICE:1 GOLDEN MILK RECIPE

Total time:5 mins
Serves: 2

INGREDIENTS

·        1/2 tsp ground turmeric
·        Pinch ground black pepper
·        1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
·        Sweetener of choice (i.e. maple syrup Or honey to taste)
·        1/4 tsp ginger (fresh)
·        1 Tbsp (15 g) coconut oil
·        1 1/2 cups (360 ml) light coconut milk  Or 1 1/2 cups (360 ml) unsweetened plain almond milk

INSTRUCTIONS

1.     To a saucepan, add all ingredients to blend smoothly (ground turmeric, fresh grated ginger, cinnamon stick, coconut oil, black pepper, and coconut milk or almond milk)
2.     Place the pan over medium heat, until hot to the touch but not boiling - about 3 minutes –stir  regularly.
3.     Turn off heat and taste to adjust flavor as sweetener of choice, usually add 1 Tbsp of honey or maple syrup.
4.     Serve immediately, Best when fresh.
Note
*If using fresh ginger, I suggest grating 1-2 Tbsp into the mixture and then using a fine mesh strainer to strain out.

CHOICE 2: Golden Turmeric Paste

INGREDIENTS

·        1/2 cup turmeric powder
·        1/2 cup water
·        1 ½ tsp black pepper
·        5-6 tsp virgin coconut oil

INSTRUCTIONS

1.     To a saucepan add all ingredients at medium flame (water, turmeric, and black pepper) to make a thick paste
2.     Whisk it for 7 to 10 minutes and Remove from heat and add virgin coconut oil. Finally, transfer to a glass jar with a lid and store in the refrigerator.
3.     To use, whisk 1 teaspoon Golden Paste to 2 cups warmed milk of choice .Add honey and cinnamon to taste.
4.     Drink immediately

BENEFITS OF BASE INGREDIENT:

Turmeric

          The main ingredient in this recipe is turmeric. Turmeric contains curcumin as its primary active component , it halt an enzyme that may be responsible for turning environmental toxins into carcinogens in the body. And also improve digestion of fats and sugars ,help alleviate inflammation in the digestive systemt ,to help alleviate gum problems.

Pepper

        The black pepper is important to this recipe since it contains piperine, a compound known to increase the benefits of turmeric.

Cinnamon (ground cinnamon / cinnamon stick)

      Cinnamon  is a warming tonic, great for this chilly time of year. Drinking cinnamon in  milk helps to warm our interior and increase circulation throughout our bodies. It can help to prevent and cure colds and flues. In addition, cinnamon milk can help ease digestive issues like indigestion and cramping.

Ginger (freshly grated)

           With its high levels of Vitamin C, magnesium and other minerals, ginger root is extremely beneficial for health. Ginger is commonly used to treat various types of "stomach problems," including motion sickness, morning sickness, gas problem...

Sweetener (honey)

          It helps mellow out the strong flavor of the turmeric, but it is not necessary.

Some kind of fat for absorption:

           coconut milk or unsweetened plain almond milk can be too used.If you don’t use milk or broth, consider adding a tiny amount of some kind of fat (like butter or coconut oil) as it increases absorption.
