ROSE WATER - HOMEMADE...!

Homemade Natural Rose Water:

Making rose water is super simple. It only takes minutes to make a beautiful tonic for the skin that can be used as much as you desire.

There are two ways to make rose water as the hydrosol method (Distilling) and the basic method (Simmering). I will be teaching you the basic method in this post, but if you would like to learn how to make a rose hydrosol (which is clear in color) then check out my post on how to make it.

Distilling Method Vs Simmering Method

There are two relatively easy ways to make rosewater at home. The easiest and quickest way is by simmering rose petals (dried or fresh) in water. The result is a fragrant, rose-colored water. This method is suited best for recipes and uses that will not sit around very long as it has a limited shelf life.

The distilling method technically makes a hydrosol. It is also quite easy to make, albeit slightly more time-consuming, and rose hydrosol is clear and much more shelf stable.

Here we are going to know about 2 best methods of preparing rose water at home. Let’s get started.

Method to Make Rose Water

There are two different ways to make rose water, either by simmering or distillation.

METHOD 1: SIMMERING METHOD (BASIC METHOD)

Things needed :

Rose Petals
Saucepan With Lid
Nut Bag Or Several Thicknesses Of Cheesecloth
Dark Bottle For Storage (Spray Nozzle Optional)

Directions:

·        The petals must be freshly picked. Pesticides or chemicals should not be used while growing them, which is why it makes sense to use roses that you have grown yourself.
·       Pick flowers two to three hours after sunrise when the morning dew has evaporated. Use only petals, not the stem and leaves.Wash thoroughly to remove bugs and dirt particles.
·       Measure Use 1/2 to 3/4 cup if you are using fresh petals. If 1/4 cup of dried rose petals into your saucepan.
·       Pour 1 1/2 cups water into your saucepan.Cover and bring to a boil. The water should be steaming hot not boiling hot.
·       Reduce temperature to the lowest setting that still allows the water to simmer until the color of the rose petals has faded. You will see the rose oil floating on the surface.
·       This only took about 5-10 minutes. Leave the lid on and cool completely.
·       Pour water and petals through the nut bag or cheesecloth and strain into a measuring bowl with a pour spout .
·       Pour strain water into a dark, clean bottle.Store in the refrigerator for several weeks or on the counter for up to one week days at room temperature or up to a month in the fridge

METHOD 2: DISTILLATION METHOD (HYDROSOL METHOD)

It is a time taking method in which it goes through the process of condensation.

Things needed :

Rose Petals
Water
Ice
Large Stock Pot with Lid
Clean Brick (A Real Brick, From A House)
Metal Bowl or Heat-Safe Glass Bowl
Dark Bottle for Storage (Spray Nozzle Optional)

Directions:

·        The petals must be freshly picked. Pesticides or chemicals should not be used while growing them, which is why it makes sense to use roses that you have grown yourself.
·       Pick flowers two to three hours after sunrise when the morning dew has evaporated. Use only petals, not the stem and leaves.Wash thoroughly to remove bugs and dirt particles.
·       Here we place a bowl inside the boiling pot and collect the rose water that drips from the underside of the lid.
·       Place a small metal stand inside the boiling pot.
·       Measure and Use 3-5 cups if you are using fresh petals and gently press them down so they are around the brick and under the metal bowl.
·       Else have 1 1/2 cups of dried rose petals into the stock pot. Put them down around the brick making sure not to get any into the bowl. Then place a bowl on the stand and pour these rose petals along sides of the pot.
·       Now add enough water in the pot till they cover rose petals.
·       Cover the pot with the lid in upside down way and bring it to a boil.
·       Be sure that the bowl and pot should be in the appropriate size that the inverted lid should cover the pot and the handle of the lid should be placed in the bowl.
·       Put the lid upside down and hold the ice cubes in the inverted space to encourage the steam to condense and subsequently drop into the bowl.
·       It’s time to place some ice cubes on the lid and simmer the heat to medium low for 20 – 30 minutes.
·       This will allow the steam to collect and drip down to the center of the lid and eventually drip into the bowl.
·       Add more ice cubes till the condensation process forms the rose water.
·       Turn off the heat whenever the petals turn to white and remove the bowl from the pot.
·       Let it cool for few minutes and pour it into a dark and clean bottle.
·       Very carefully lift the lid so that none of your melted ice water falls into the pot. Carefully pour the rosewater that has collected in the bowl into your dark bottle.
·       This will last much longer at room temperature (up to 6 months, although it doesn’t stick around that long in my house) but you could always store it in the refrigerator to be sure it keeps well

Note:

If you don’t have any metal stand to place inside the pot then use ceramic balls or a clean brick. The concept is that the bowl should not touch the pot and also not to get heated.

pour 1 ½ cups of dried rose petals (or 3 – 5 cups of fresh petals) into a stock pot with a brick in the center. Place a metal bowl on brick and pour water into the pot and invert the lid to cover the stock pot and do the same as mentioned in the above process.

ROSE WATER - ITS NATURAL REMEDIES FOR SKIN, HAIR AND FACE..!

Rosewater is exactly as it sounds, roses + water, Plus it smells awesome and more often known as ‘Gulab Jal’ Since the ancient times as it is a by-product of the production of rose oil. It is one of the most used ingredients in perfumes, cosmetics, food and also medication preparation plus the bonus of the anti-inflammatory and hydrating advantages of rose.

Rose water is not only beautifully fragrant but extremely versatile. Rose is unique in that it’s awfully good at what it does, no matter the application. It has an extensive range of uses including facial toner, hair perfume, cooling mist, and linen freshener. Rose petals are edible and rosewater has a place in the culinary world as well.

I’m pretty obsessed with roses not only for their beauty or their lovely aroma, but for their medicine. That’s right, the seemingly delicate rose is one of the most powerful herbal allies one can enlist. There is hardly any skin condition that can survive the healing touch of rose.

As you may already know One can ease their heavy hearts or slow a racing pulse with a dropper of tincture. A swipe of rose vinegar can pull heat from sunburn; a smear of rose jam can bring a sense of wellbeing to anyone who eats it. Rose infused honey is a joy to add to teas, pastries, or even straight off the spoon!

One of my favorite ways to use rose is by spiriting rose water all over my skin. It has been amazing for controlling acne breakouts!

Rose water can be used to replace some or all of the water in things like soap, hair rinse, and hair detangling spray. As a side note, it will have little impact on the final color of your soap and will definitely not turn it pink.

Since the ancient times, Rosewater has claimed to be highly prized for its source of perfume, medicinal use, and nutritional properties. Its importance and potential in the skincare regimens is unmatched.

Rosewater is known to help the skin maintain its pH level, and when used as a toner and cleanser , it helps the skin bound with the goodness of the world.

It is not only used for fragrance but also for its versatile uses like a natural toner, cleanser, cooling mist, sunburn soother, mood enhancer, linen freshener, hair perfume, perfumed sprays, soothes certain skin irritations, moisturizers, stress reliever, clears dark circles or puffy eyes, heals scars, balance your skin’s pH and while mixing your face pack.

So, we all use rosewater which is brought from the market but did you know whether they are pure or not? It has some chemicals and preservatives which cause harm to your skin.

DIY - HOMEMADE TONER

What Is Toner?

Toner is a water-based liquid with a consistency like vinegar that contains active ingredients to help address specific issues.

A toner's function is to complete the cleansing of your skin—removing the dust, pollution, and impurities that can still be lingering after washing with a cleanser, as cleansers usually contain ingredients such as oil, which can leave a film on your face

Not only does it remove debris like oil and traces of makeup, but it soothes, repairs, and smooths the skin’s surface—diminishing blemishes and minimizing signs of redness and inflammation

How Should A Toner Be Used?

After using a cleanser with warm water and a washcloth, splash your face with cold water. Then, saturating two cotton pads, use toner on your face, neck, and décolletage at night to complete the cleansing of the skin, and in the morning to remove sebum produced during the night and to balance your skin's pH. Finish by applying your treatment products and/or cream.

What's In A Good Toner?

I’d look for rosewater—for its hydrating, clarifying, and energizing properties—or chamomile, which is wonderful for calming and soothing the skin. Next to rose water I would like to look for green-tea toner, an apple-cider vinegar toner.
Or both! Alcohol is usually found in astringent toners for oily skin as their function is to dry out the skin and be especially anti-bacterial—but you don’t want to use those excessively because it will over-dry the skin. Alcohol isn't bad for your skin, but it just depends on the percentage.

Is It Right for Every Skin Type?

Since the product itself is meant to absorb and control all of the dirt and oil clogged deeply into our pores, toner is only necessary for those with greasy or acne-prone skin, right? Wrong. Today’s toners are high quality and made with many of the same ingredients you might find in your other skin-care products. Some of the best toners for acne-prone skin contain exfoliating ingredients like amino fruit acids or glycolic acid, while toners made for sensitive skin types are made with soothing thermal spring water.

After cleansing your skin, pour two to three drops onto a cotton pad—this works best because it doesn’t absorb too much of the liquid and easily transfers product to your face. Make sure you get enough product on the cotton pad so that it feels damp but not too wet so that you’re wasting the liquid . Smooth a small amount across your face, neck, and décolletage, adding enough pressure to reach deep into your pores but not too much force so as to pull at the skin.
Toners are not necessary for everyone , but they can be a great adjunct to a skincare regimen for those that need help with oily skin or markedly plugged pores. My main use for toners are in my acne patients

For the Homemade Face Toner:

Rose water Toner

Things needed :

1 T pure rosewater (recipe above)
about 4 T of distilled water (or enough to fill your spray bottle)
1 2.5 ounce spray bottle

Direction:

1.   Combine all ingredients in spray bottle and shake.2.   To apply: spray directly on face or spray a cotton pad and wipe face to remove any residue.

NOTES
Using 7 stems makes around 1.5 litres of rosewater. This seems like a lot but it keeps for a long time in the fridge. Just store in a sealed, glass container until ready to use.

Green-Tea toner:

Things needed :

green tea
honey
jasmine essential oil
airtight bottle

Direction:

1.   make one cup of green tea, add half a teaspoon of honey. Mix well.
2.   After the mixture’s cooled, add three drops of jasmine essential oil and pour into an airtight bottle.
3.   There’s your toner! Just store it in a cool place.

An Apple-Cider Vinegar Toner:

Things needed :
Lemonapple cider vinegarmineral waterairtight container
Direction:
1.   Mix the juice of one lemon with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Then, mix in 200 mL of mineral water.
2.   Again, pour into an airtight container and store it in a cool place. But, because lemon is photosensitive, only use this one at night

Benefits Of Toner

1. It shrinks pores.
Applying a small amount of toner to a soft cotton ball or pad and gently blotting and wiping your face with it will remove oil and give the appearance of smaller pores.

2. It restores your skin's pH balance.
Our skin is naturally acidic, typically with a pH balance of between five and six (on a scale from 0 to 14). But that balance can get out of whack after cleansing due to the alkaline nature of soap. When this happens, your skin needs to work overtime to return to its normal levels (and that may result in oil), but using a toner can help restore this balance quickly.

3. It adds a layer of protection.
Toners can help close pores and tighten cell gaps after cleansing, thus reducing the penetration of impurities and environmental contaminants into the skin. It can even protect and remove chlorine and minerals present in tap water.

4. It moisturizes.
Some toners are humectants, which means they help to bind moisture to the skin.

5. It refreshes skin.
Toner can also be used in lieu of washing your skin when it's oily or dirty. It will leave your skin revitalized even when you're on the go.

6. It can prevent ingrown hairs.
Toners containing glycolic or other alpha hydroxy acids can help to prevent ingrown hairs, so it also aids in grooming.

7. Full body protection

That’s right, a toner isn’t just for your pretty face! I’m not suggesting you go through a bag of cotton balls doing a full head-to-toe, but it can be used for cleansing and removing excess oil from breakout spots like your chest, back, neck, and shoulders.

How Often Should You Use One?

While it’s true that overuse of toners can cause your pores to overproduce oil—a natural defense mechanism when your glands feel too stripped of moisture—it’s safe to apply both morning and night, especially if you’re oily. “Use it directly after you cleanse your face, before any serums and treatment products, as a second defense against that dirt and grease,” says Schlessinger. If your skin is on the drier side, stick to using toner just at night, says Schlessinger. By doing so, you’ll be removing any pore-clogging impurities that will further saturate your skin during your eight hours of snooze time and instead help your skin in its nightly renewal process.

The bottom line: The next time you’re wondering whether or not you really need to add another step to your skin-care routine, remember not to tune out toner. It eliminates dirt, grease, and grime to help clear your complexion and make the rest of your products work better.

CARE, TIPS AND PRECAUTION FOR APPLYING PRETTY LIPSTICK..!

Important Tips And Precautions

These are a few extra tips and tricks that you can keep in mind if you are a lipstick enthusiast.
·       Never use a dark liner with a light shade of lipstick – it will ruin your entire look.

·       Always soften the lines formed by the lip liner by blending them out properly either by using your fingertips or a Q-tip.

·       Get to understand your lips and also what formulations work best for you as this differs from person to person.

·       Always blot using a tissue to remove excess product and even out the texture.

·       To turn a glossy lip color into a matte finish, dust on some translucent loose powder on the lips and let it rest for few seconds. Dab them with a flat or a fluffy brush to even the powder out.

·       When applying lipstick with a brush, use an angular brush. This helps in providing a more defined look.

·       If you wish to follow the pastel lip trend and do not want to shell out any more money on buying them, you can make your own pastel color (DIY). Use a white pencil all over the lips and pat any of your favorite lip colors onto the lips. There you go!

·       To achieve plumper looking lips, apply some cream-based highlighter onto the Cupid’s bow.

·       Always ensure that you have no lipstick marks on your teeth as this tends to happen when you wear a creamy, transferable lipstick.

·       Never use expired lip products as these can cause allergic reactions and other health issues.

·       Avoid trying out tester lipsticks at stores as it’s been on many lips and it can be a cause for the spread of infections.

·       Never apply lipstick on chapped lips, it will only accentuate all your cracks and lines.

Now that we’ve covered application let’s talk about how to remove your lipstick at the end of the day. It’s so important to take off every speck of makeup before you go to sleep to maintain the wellness of your skin. Besides, it feels good to have soft and healthy lips, doesn’t it?

How To Remove Lipstick?

There are several ways to remove lipstick. Ideally, you can use a makeup remover that you will find in abundance in the market. I personally prefer Neutrogena’s Eye and Lip makeup remover as it does the job effectively, yet gently and Neutrogena’s products are very reliable.
We must be gentle with our lips, and while removing lipstick, we must always ensure that we don’t damage or dry out our pout in the process.

Method 1: Apply Vaseline Petroleum Jelly

Just dab some petroleum jelly onto your lips just like any lip balm, let it sit for two minutes. Use a wet wipe or a cotton ball to wipe away the lipstick. This also works for your liquid mattes!

Method 2: Use Coconut Oil/ Olive Oil

Slather on some coconut oil onto your lips which is nourishing and also one of the most natural makeup removing agents out there. With the help of a cotton ball, wipe away any product on your lips.

Method 3: Lotion

If you have nothing else available, you can try using some of your face lotion or body lotion and gently massage it onto your lips. After letting it sit for a couple of minutes, wipe it off with a cotton ball.

That’s all there is to master the art of wearing and removing lipstick. We hope you’ve made mental notes of some of these old tricks and hacks for the next time you want to dress your pout. Give these tips a shot and write to us about your experiences or queries in the comments below.

JUST KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT WITH PENCIL AND LIPSTICK ...!

HOW TO APPLY LIPSTICK AND LIP PENCIL

1. Apply a foundation or concealer in the region of the lips and the powder on top, giving small taps. This will help increase the durability of the lipstick and make the most beautiful color.

2. To make the outline of a "V" at the center of the upper lip and then go around the entire lip line.

3. If you have thin or uneven lips, outline with a pencil one shade darker than the lipstick color, a little below the natural line. In this way, it will make them look fuller and defined.

4. If your lips are too full and you want to make decrease the outline with a pencil in the same color lipstick a little into the natural lip line.

5. Some lipsticks rich moisturizers out beyond the line of the lips, do contour with lip pencil will help hold the lipstick.

LIPSTICK APPLICATION: PUTTING ON THE LIPS
1. Being exact isn't all that important with sheer or light-colored lipsticks, but messy application of dark lipstick can look especially bad.

2. Lipstick essentially redefines the shape of the mouth, so how it's applied can mean the difference between looking put together and looking sloppy.

3. Using lip liner can help. It often comes in a pencil or liquid application with brush. In addition to creating precisely defined lines, it can also prevent lip color from "bleeding" outside the edges of the lips onto the skin.

4. This can happen especially if you have wrinkles or lines around the mouth. The lip liner creates the outline, which is then colored in with lipstick.
